I now am the proud owner of another brand new rear end. I honestly can not fault the Yeti warranty service. But I really do hope that I won't be needing it again any time soon.
I'm not 100% but I think the rear that just broke was 8005. My new replacement rear is 8022. Do we think that these may be the individual serial numbers for each of the carbon rears. Or is it more likely to be a production batch number???
I have started putting her back together again and should be up and running again very soon. Fingers crossed that this is third time lucky.

I joined the cracked chainstay club on Good Friday! Was cleaning the bike on the Saturday and it's cracked on the driveside.
Evolution are disputing that it's a manufacturing issue, as the tyre has rubbed..... which it would do if the rear triangle was flexing like hell!! They've still got it!
Anyone had any issues with Evolution, how did you get on, and whilst I've emailed Yeti direct, they've not replied after 5 days? Anyone got an email address that's worked for them?

What size of tyre do you run? I've got no rubbing at all on mine, and thats in 18 months. Do you run flexi wheels?

I've got some DT Swiss EX510s with some 2.3s on them. Nothing out of the ordinary!
I was chatting to a guy at Cwmcarn about his 575, and he actually warned me about the chain stay issue, so I had been checking them. No issue, and then 11 months in......

I am pretty sure that the tyre rubbing through the frame is not in any way connected to the topic of this thread.
Hope you get it sorted one way or another.

and I doubt I will convince you of the merits of Carbon, but then I dont want to.the weight savings are small compared to the potential inconvenience of a broken frame. Silly poster don't you know you buy carbon for its stiffness not the weight savings. I have had the same break twice with my carbon rear end but love the stiffness it gives me. I will warranty it once again and get the carbon rear end. Johnnybez Both times I have broken mine was while standing up for a climb. Not sure what is going on with the rear triangle

Don't know what your point is in resurrecting a post from 6 months ago, but if you've broken two frames in the same place then there must be serious questions about either
1) Your riding style.
2) Your thought processes that keep making you buy a frame which you know is suspect. Presumably you are now trying to break a third.
3) The manufacturing processes that allow frames to repeatedly fail.
Whatever, the doubts about carbon chainstays remain. As you say - "not sure what is going on".

Not sorted yet, and very disappointed with Yeti/Evolution. Used to love my 575, climbed like a beast but my experience with both parties has not been good.
Will let you know how I get on. My love affair may yet be rekindled!!

I'm in the same situation as you and have been wondering the cost of these too? Am i right in thinking that there is an alloy triangle available now too?

worst fear realised. Carbon chain stay on drive side craked & split open. Started climb after decent and unexpectedly felt strange. Was doing Nant-y-Arain cross countryride -no major nasties on this route. I have never done jumps on this. I will post full pics on Flickr under peteelliott tommorow. By the way, frame batch 8021. Done research and found some interesting cases. Whether this is a production issue in Taiwan, CNT issue or design flaw issue, Yeti seems to be looking into it as research is being done. I still love the bike though. It has transformed my riding. Think i will replace with aluminium chain stay version.

UPDATE:- Got replacement carbon rear under warranty in the end. Ryders Bikes, Cwmcarn, South Wales-Yeti dealers sent back to Evolution. Apparently the carcon rear has been beefed up-so Yeti have recognised there is a problem with the original carbon and have sorted it. Be quite honest with you, i don't know why Yeti dont do a full alu swing arm or maybe Titanium would be good....any thoughts? If anyone in Wales gets this problem, don't hesitate to contact Nick in Ryders Cwmcarn who swiftly dealt with the return to Evolution and charged a reasonable feefor the labor costs. Pete ;D
