Hello All, Brand new to the site and have a question. I Have an opportunity to pick-up a 2005 ASR-SL Frame for what seems like a decent price. I'm a 42 year old father of two who's been a Yeti fan my entire life (but never actually owned one) and I'm looking for a project to build over the fall and winter. I'm 200lbs and plan on riding local easy trails. Would this be a good starter bike for me to join the Yeti family? From the pictures I was sent it seems to be in very good condition.

Hi,
I hope you are still looking and I know you will not be disappointed when you get one.
However, as a 200lb rider too, I think you would find that a bit flexy. I test rode one when I bought my first Yeti (for my 50th birthday) and I thought at the time that if I was 150-160lb it would be a great bike - as would the Specialized Epic I also rode at the time. I tried the Stumpy and that was OK, but went for the 2007 575 in the end and never regretted it. That lasted me a good few years, although as I got better, I noticed the flex in that too.
Having said all that, the later 575's have a different and stiffer rear end and I would recommend you look at one of those instead.
You might start on easy trails but you won't be able to stop yourself wanting more !
Best of luck
Fred
