Anyone have any wisdom on this? I have been running into problems with the shimano xt m770 etype derailleur on my 2013 575. The derailleur instructions do not show a spacer in the hollow tech II bottom bracket. Without a spacer, the derailleur physically blocks the chain from going to the smallest sprocket. With a spacer I can't get the chain to reach the largest sprocket.
Front derailleurs have never gone well for me. I don't know what the secret is to getting these things to be adjustable, let alone function.

The mech mounts to the swingarm on your bike?
Is it a 2 speed or 3 speed mech!

Thank you Andrew. I think I was in a state of denial about that possibility because it means I will be starting the installation over from the beginning. When I first started the front mech I didn't know it could be used that way. In fact I have never seen that kind of installation. It seems odd to me that we have this front mech that finally gets away from clamping the seat tube, and we end up clamping it to the chainstay .
Thanks again Andrew, I'm glad to be working in the right direction. I did send a picture a few weeks ago, but it wasn't the best picture.

I must apologize. I may have misunderstood you Andrew. But to answer your question, the drive train is all xt 3x9. I think the chain stay mount is something I read somewhere. Whether that is ever done or not I don't think it could work in this case.

The front mech does NOT mount on the bottom bracket and would not work as when the swingarm moves the mech will ghost shift (due to cable housing running through the swingarm).
The confusion likely comes from having an E-type mech...when, infact, you remove the bottom bracket mount plate off this E-type mech - effectively turning into what Shimano like to now call an E2 mech... all nice and confusing. Another thing to watch for is when running the cable and outer for the front mech.... you need a largish loop under the BB area before outer terminates in the swingarm.

I had no idea this needed such a unique configuration. I bought the frame from wrench science in 2013, and it didn't come with the chain stay mount adapter that Andrew is referencing. It took most of a year to actually purchase everything i needed. I finished building in January knowing that i eventually needed help with the front mech. But since then i have been riding it without actually using the front mech. Just staying on the same sproket. Its embarrassing, but i was eager to kick on this bike.
Do I really need that adapter? The link had something for a 2011 575.

To use it properly you need the adaptor that should have been supplied with the frame from new.

OK, I'll look around some of the boxes, but I don't think I have one. In the meantime, is it possible to order from the yetifan store with us dollars?

You can, but you'd best head direct to yeticycles.com and pick one up there, will be miles cheaper for you and faster too. Yeti will still have those kits.
