I've got questions for owners of the ASX. How long did your bike last before having to replace the suspension bearing components? I know this would have to do with the conditions that you ride in, so include that info too. I'm interested in what might cause premature failure and cause one to have to do a rebuild. Is doing the rebuild difficult? I've also read somewhere that you should not lubricate any of these bearings as they are pregnated with their own oil, anyone heard this also?
My ASX is a 2007 and not needing anything now, but have inquired to Yeti about a rebuild kit for the 2007 model as the kits listed on their site are for ASX's older than mine. Reply from Yeti was that a kit for the 2007 model will be listed on their 2008 site and that on the 2007 model the rate link is different than prior models so the kit for the 2007 is different. With the discontinuation of the ASX I plan to order at least one rebuild kit to prolong the usefulness of my bike.
Thanks for input on any experiences here.

My main pivot bearing on my as-x lasted about 18 months, which is pretty good for me,previously ridden santacruz and would do 2/3 sets a year! Keep an eye on the main pivot my drive side siezed and caused some damage to front triangle, cheers to Ed at Crosstrax for sorting that one!! I ride my yeti 2/3 days a week all year round in bearing eating Yorkshire mud, I think 18 months is pretty good.my mates Nomad has had two full sets of bearings in the same time and we ride together most of the time. I wouldn't stress about the availability of spares the uk dealer and Yetifan carry lots of old rebuild kits and Yeti have a great rep for looking after their customers. Don't put lube anywhere near your bearings/pivots it just rots the seals and lets water in, depends on how much of a DIY man you are but taking the back end apart and re-greasing everything isn't that big a job, or you could take it to your local Yeti dealer for a service every now n then.
Hope I've helped you out. Long live the AS-X!!!!
