The largest I have fitted is a 2.35 Maxxis DH tyre and it fitted with room to spare.

I reckon the Nobby Nic 2.4 will fit easy as Schwalbes can be quite slim I have been using the Michelin AT 2.35 and it has loads of space www.crosstrax.co.uk/builds.php

Schwalbe have odd sizing, the smaller ones seem to come up alot smaller against other brands and the larger ones a bit bigger. I would say that a 2.4 Nobby Nic was about the same as a 2.35 Maxxis though. If thats any help.

The width of a tyre deppends a bit on the rim too. Last summer I measured my Racing Ralphs and Nobby Nics: - On Mavic 325 rims, both were 60 mm at the widest point. - On a narrow rim (Alex DM18 ) they were 56 mm wide.

Thanks for your answers. I`m very interested in the new one 575 but have fear of scratching the carbon brace if little stones or mud be stuck in the lug of big tires!
Any long-term experiences?

Damaging the carbon I would say is not a problem, the swingarm has a little plastic shield to protect it, which you can beef up with some helicopter tape, or just Duck tape if you want.
Our demo bike is about 5 months old and riding in the crappy Yorkshire mud it hasnt had a problem.
Though running on 26 x 2.0 Michelins at the moment.

I am running panracer 2.25's on mavis 319's they are pretty tight on the frame to the extent that in the snow they clog up enough to cause a "snow brake", other than that mud is no problem,

I rode 3 bikes at the Newnham Demo Day yesterday and the 08 575 was the worst for mud clearence. Conditions were pretty poor, and everything clogged to a degree, but the 575 was the only bike I had to stop and pull mud from - the seatstay bridge seemed to be the culprit. Other than that the new 575 felt great, suprisingly different to my 06. The other two bikes I rode were a SC Blur LT and an Ibis Mojo - both very nice. I'd probably say the Mojo was the best overall, Yeti 2nd and Blur 3rd, but really not very much between all 3.
