hmmm, jury is out on this sort of thing...whilst it seems a bargain, what if it goes wrong? more importantly, why don't people support their LBS? The dealers don't make a vast profit after they've paid rent, staff wages, electricity etc. Sure, the frames cost a few hundred quid more in the UK, but you'll no doubt make that back in a few years from being looked after by your friendly local Yeti dealer.

I'd have to agree with you marcus .There good prices and if your on a tight budget (you pays your money you takes your chance!!!) But i shall be going down the LBS route , specially as my LBS has just become a YETI dealer this year . ok it might be cheaper doing a self build (LBS are doing build up discounts approx 10% on kit /group/fork etc,so you whon't save much ?) I don't think You can beat face to face talks with the LBS staff to get the low down on the best kit etc .And the fact you can just pop it in if any problems arise.

Sorry but when I compare the price with the French distributor and the price I've paid... For FMF the French distribut the ASR-SL is 2194 euros and I paid 1255 euros (with the shipping) from the Ebay shop!! That is to say a difference of 939 euros!! I think that the difference of 900e is not justified . the French importer who goes relatively well could lower nevertheless his prices in order to propose an acceptable price. Bye

This is just my opinion, so please don't take offence:
FMF have to pay their staff, rent, advertising, electricity etc. and take a risk buying frames that may not sell because people like you have decided to try and get a better deal elsewhere...i wish you luck, but i'm staying loyal to my local yeti shop now i live near one... it's like supermarkets...sure, it's great to have stuff under one roof (like the internet), but it means that all the 'local' shops go under...this affects the community and specialist knowledge evaporates...i remember buying trainers from my local running shop when i lived in london...i then went to a huge sports shop where i asked the difference between 2 different running shoes - the guy serving me looked at me like i was from Mars then said "this one's £10 dearer than the other pair!"
i don't know how your new dealer gets the frames from yeti - i assumed they all went through the importers...the prices in the Uk are high because of the import duty.
i won't be buying a new yeti frame at present, although i crave a new 575 to compliment my asr-sl, as i can't afford it...i'm not interested in 'cheap' deals...when i can afford it, i'll got to my LBS.

No worries, I don't take offence ;-)
The fact is that the ebay shop does not exist only on the Net! There also really exists since it is about a store in China which has as the same charges as a store in France or the U.K. The retailer buys also the frame via the Yéti representative of the country but it is only 1 difference.it is that the frame is sold at his just price in $ US. You really think that the difference of 900E that FMF practises justify the price of the transport from the US + the taxes + margin of the imortator?

I would always buy from my local Yeti dealer. If anything goes wrong, (and it very rarely does with a Yeti) you know it can be sorted quickly and easily whereas importing means sending it back overseas to be sorted and could take ages.

Hi!
If I have a pb with my frame, it is cover with the international warranty and I only have to give it to FMF with the invoice! I had this info from Yeti US (Seth Ramsbottom) before orderring the frame... I could test the warranty for a leak with my RP23 shox and there were no problems!

I've tried both and whilst you can save money buying from an online store or ebay, I think you get value from buying from a local store.
I'm not saying I'm rich and not interested in a bargain but, personally I prefer the experience of buying from a friendly store, from people that you know. Having conversations with store staff prepared to while away hours with idiots like me about rear mech cage sizes or stem lengths, this is priceless. Probably a pain in the arse for Bromley bikes, but it's all part of my bike experience I guess.
But everyone is different.

Bromley bikes is a great shop, so is Eds Crosstrax, I am happy to buy from these places.
My LBS that I used to use a lot has 2 great members of staff, the rest are idiots, and WILL Laugh at you if you ask a silly question.
I think once you find a good shop, then stick with them they will help you out. I can understand why some people go with Ebay or buy in from abroad, maybe their local shop is full of jokers too!

Your right, it's horses for courses. But I live in Denmark and consider my LBS to be Bromley bikes so I'm not sure what that says about me or Copenhagen.

For my part, before ordering via Ebay, I try getting the frame with my local bike shop..."Well, I 'll try to have it! Hem! Could you tell me the name of the frame? Yeti ASR-SL! What? Yeti? I don't know this brand!!... My LBS, only sells Lapierre & Cannondale and I have to do 130km to find my old LBS who was very good...! Bye

Actually there is a local bike store selling Yeti here in Copenhagen, run by a really nice helpful guy. But the times I've been in he always tries to steer me towards another brand other than Yeti (I mean, I want a 575 not a Turner!) and if it's parts I need he ends up getting the parts from either the UK or Germany anyway. But he has helped me out in an emergency mech hanger etc, so it's def not all bad. So I know your pain Romas and I'm really not knocking eBay, but maybe I like buying from UK stores as it reminds me of home
