Thought I'd start a thread about first rides. First impressions with a new love. That feeling you get when you start a relationship with a new bike, the uncomfortable feelings and the pleasure, a sort of first date thing.
So, I picked her up in a certain cycle shop Bromley on Friday ('her' being a beautiful 08 575), and within minutes I decided to whisk her away on a dirty weekend to Copenhagen.
When we landed in Denmark, I couldn't resist her. Straight away I had to have a little fiddle in the baggage hall, she seemed keen though, and so I decided to take her straight to the woods. Reading this again it does sound more like an episode of Cracker, but I insist my intentions were and are honorable.
Anyway as Lou reed would say, it was such a perfect day, a sunny day, a muddy day, cold and Evangelic, a religious experience.
I held her tight as we giggled down drop offs, laughed over some jumps, did single track over and over again and we even had a little ride/push up some climbs.
What more can I say, she's explosive, knows what she's doing, handles everything, she's a vision of bike and beauty, like Cameron Diaz spliced with aluminium and carbon.
All in all it was the best Saturday I've had. A perfect date, my new love 5.75 inches of travel! I used to go out with a very dirty little ASR but now I've moved on, found a new love.
Anyway, we're are off out to the woods again tomorrow, but in the meantime here's a lovely picture of her relaxing against a wall.
And another shot of her wearing protective clothing.
Big thanks to Bromley Cycles (Howard and Joe) for helping me find my perfect date.
