Hey everyone, I am a 35 YO guy who has been riding since age 12, competitively from 15 to 21, and I have relaxed a bit with racing, and still love fast trail riding. I just gave up my Ti hardtail for a Yeti ASR-SL C from 2006, when they were still being built in Golden, CO.
My build list is:
Yeti ASR-SL Carbon White/Red/Al/Carbon w/FOX RP23
RockShox SID WorldCup White w/PushLoc
Chris King NoThreadSet Red
Hope Stem 65mm/0deg Red
FSA Carbon headset spacer
RaceFace Next SL Carbon .5" rise bar
Hope MonoMini ProSS Floating brakes Red
SRAM XO thumbshifters
ODI/Oury grips White
ODI LockJaws clamps Red
Spinergy Xyclone Disc wheels (Red spokes)
SRAM XO rear derailleur with carbon innerplate from RSP and Token TiRamic Carbon jockey pulleys
Shimano '08 Clamp-On XTR front derailleur
Crank Brothers Cobalt Ti Ceramic ISIS BB
Adventure Components Cobra Carbon cranks
Token chainring bolts Red
Token Ti ISIS bolts
Token crankarm dustcaps Red
ProBolt bolt hole covers Red
ProBolt Ti bolt kits in every part of the bike, no steel remains
KMC X9SL chain
StrongLight Zycral chainrings
Shimano XTR Ti cassette
Hope Skewers Red
Hope Seatclamp Red
Selle San Marco Aspide Carbon Monocoque Red/Carbon/White
Syntace P6 Carbon seatpost
Continental XC Pro Kevlar tires
Maxxis FlyWeight tubes
This built an 18.7lb Ti hardtail, so I figure I am looking at about a 20.5lb bike with the ASR frame. The Ti frame is about 2 lbs lighter, but no shock! It is a bit harsh here in Maine... but will make a fast frame for anyone interested... I am looking forward to building the ASR and seeing what it is all about to ride a Yeti. I bought it based on the overwhelming reviews and comments. I mentioned to everyone I ride with that I might like a suspension on some of the rough stuff that really slows me down, and they all said Yeti first, and that this frame is for me. I will let you know! This is a cool place to write about this type of thing, I am pretty excited about the bike, especially having all this hype going on around it...
