Hi all,
Well I'll soon be the proud owner of a 08 575 so thought I'd drop in a say 'hi'.
Been checking in here for a few weeks and reading a few posts, it seems that there's not a lot of activity on here. Do people use other forums more? mtbr .etc?
I've posted a few queries about my new bike in the tech area so I hope someone can help me out.
If anyones got an reviews on their 575 I'd love to hear how you are getting on.
thanks, Greg

HI Greg.
Good to hear from you, with regard to the posts and users, we were beating MTBR for page views on some topics, and had hundreds of members, but the people who ran the forum beofre this decided to alter it and loose everybody. Basically I paid a company to host the posts, and make sure no spam got online.
Anyhow, good to have you on board, MTBR is maybe the main forum, but in my opinion, there is a little too many people with Turners etc trying to cause a stink! All the Yeti dudes are good though.
I have an 08 575, the first customer one in the UK, so far 300 + miles on it, worn my first tyres out the other day, its ace, I had an 05 before. this one is lighter (due to my parts), longer, stronger (at least it looks it), and far far stiffer. The RP23 is a dream.
You will be so happy!
Andrew

Thanks Andrew, looking forward to getting my first Yeti built and putting some miles on it. From what you're saying it sounds like I've made the right choice.
I haven't ridden on 08 model but the previous model was great.

Welcome on board gregster. The forums has been a little quite of late, I think its a bit of the winter blues after christmas, What spec are you going for ,i'm looking at getting an 08 575 in march/april time "it'll take me that long to decide what spec i want" can't make my mind up on fork/wheel to go for ? good luck with the build & happy riding.

Here you go, all built up. I've only ridden it home and back to work so not had much time in the saddle but already I love it. Need to change the stem and bars to the Thomson 90mm and Easton Carbon hi-rise bars which should help as it feels too stretched out at the moment with the 120mm stem. Also the front end feels a bit low with the vanilla 125's on but I will be changing the forks in the coming months for something taller. My only gripe is that the bike shop left the rear hose a bit long and it's got too much slack round the bars. Will get that sorted when everything's bedded in a bit and they tweak the gears set up. Overall, really chuffed and can't wait to get it dirty off road this weekend. g

Nice in Orange! I am planning on building an orange one with the Orange Marzocchi Z1s (there are a few pairs left at the importers). 120mm stem - what were you thinking - Tour de france?

Nice 575 gregster , looks great in orange .......Pritty rare too, bet its one of only a few world wide Thanks. I'm trying to figure out if you can order the orange in the UK as most UK suppliers only seem to have the other 3 colours. I imported mine from the US so maybe it is the only orange one? I changed to a shorter Thompson 90mm stem and Easton Carbon hi-rise bars last night and on the ride in this morning it felt like a completely different bike. So much sharper handling and seemed to just come alive. Haven't even ridden it off road yet and it's awesome!

Orange will remain rare in the UK as they are not being imported, though Evolution are bringing a few in on special request from the dealers. 90mm stem - that's more like it

hi all, well I managed to get out at the weekend on the South Downs and get the Yeti dirty. It was so windy and cold that I might well of headed home if I didn't have a new bike to put through it's paces. Anyway, first 'off road' impressions are that this is one amazing trail bike. Over the 3 hours I was out I played with the RP23 settings to find the best set up and get it dialed in. Coming from a bike with a Manitou 4 way swinger that had virtually no adjustment, you just rode it and didn't think, it was strange having a shock with dials and knobs to think about. I found the Pro pedal very useful on some on the climbs. Just need to remember to flick the lever which I'm sure it will become second nature after a while. So overall I'm very impressed. The Vanilla 125's on the front end didn't seem to hamper the bike too much but I'm sure a 140mm or 160mm fork would make quite a difference. Definitely next on the shopping list. g
