I'm 99% certain that I'm about to buy an ASR but have a couple of concerns that folk on here might be able to answer:
Do people experience excess wear on the rear mech cable? At the cable guide nearest the head tube more specifically?
What is the rough frequency for bearing replacement & the likely cost?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Nobby.

Hi Nobby,
Wear on the cable? There is no issue with the outer splitting, also I use frame saver tape all over the frame to protect from damage, and its always a good idea to put a bit on your head tube.
Also Yeti off the Cable/Hose protectors as seen in the store, these are a great little bit of kit.
Bearings? It depends what conditions you ride in, I ride all weathers, all year round 2-4 times a week, and usually change bearings at around 18months to 2 years. I am not afraid of riding in the mud!!
The bearing kits are around £40 and are available very easily.
As a note, Yeti uses high quality bearings,(MAX/Full comliment type with Enduro seals- these are specific pivot bearings) with top quality seals, always packed with grease, not the type you get from a bearing company on the cheap!!
You'll never look back if you get an AS-R, they are an amazingly fast and capable bike.

Thanks for the reply.
On the demo bike I had last week the cable outer was worn where it passes thru' the first guide by the head tube which is why I asked. I thinkt it may have been a combination of the length of the outer and how thin it was.
Good news on the bearings though.
It was much faster & more responsive than I thought it would be (having ridden earlier models) so am pretty much sold. Hopefully it'll help me keep up with some of my mates better.

I couldn't answer to the first question concerning the cable routing as it isn't the same on my frame ASR-SL 06 but concerning the bearing, I could tell you that they've got no play for 2 years of ride! Perfect! This bike is amazing and after few rides in the Alps, I could tell you that you could ride fast with a good stability, confort & security! Bye

Bromley Bike. Picked it up earlier but have only managed a quick spin round the block. Loving it already, even more than the demo I have although that may be 'cause it has my kit on it.
It will be christened properly in the morning.
