Hearing a horror story of a big guy in whistler jumping his 575 and breaking it after 3 weeks! Bit worried now as I'm 220lbs and have spent all my hard earned cash on a 575 and worried it might crack/break

Theres jumping & theres hucking off big drop offs??.. Whistler sounds like a knarly place to me !!!....if your a smooth rider/jumper then i can't see a problem .Yeti sell a fox36/dhx spec bike in the states so its designed as a freeride light bike ,as much as it is a long travel trail bike . .

I think I know of the guy, and here's how it is......
There is a few (and I mean a few) of the Alu rear ends that failed at the welds on the drop out, I had one for over 2 years, and no problems.
They guy your on about had his bike only a few weeks before, and as it was one of the few affected parts it broke, not because its not up to the job, but as it was one of the affected ones, I know he was shipped a new carbon rear end (no carbon ones are affected) on double quick time from Yeti to Canada.
I know guys heavier than you, who have had the bikes for a long period and had no problems.
All I would say, if your doing 10ft drops to flat, then you bought the wrong bike!
If your doing 24hr races, trail rides, big mountain epics, trips to the Alps with your mates, bit of this and bit of that, knarly single tracks, rocky downhills, etc etc your going to be in Bike heaven.

We built an Alu back end '06 575 for a guy who is 19 stone and he is merciless with his bike, I have seen him regularly drop 4 or 5 feet to flat - off walls and I sometimes have to look away when he does it as he is not the most advanced rider in the world, just completely gung ho and the bike hasnt had a problem in nearly two years. by the way we put him on a Yeti after his Marin mount vision had broken two swingarms and one main frame in two years.
