hi just bought a sb66carbon bike it is set up as follows 34 single at front and a 11/36 at the rear on sunday i managed a hilly 12mile ride (i am 53 ) but know i would struggle on 30 mile rides can i just put a 32 on the front or do i need to also convert rear to 40tooth taking out 17 cog ps its a xtr clutch mech . thanks any advice fellow yeti lovers

entirely up to you, try the 32T 1st, if it's still proving too much then look at messing with the cassette

I've just converted my SB66C to 1x10. 32t chainring, 11-36 cassette with a oneup 42t sprocket took out 15t and 17t cogs and replaced it with a 16t thats supplied with the 42t. You need to think about the rear mech as well, I had a long cage, clutch XT so got a RadR cage set from oneup which means no messing with the B stop screw being too short, if you've got a SRAM mech should be ok.
Just one thing I tried fitting the front mech blanking plate with the yeti man on it, bolt supplied was too long - even the bolt that retained the mech wouldn't hold it in place :-(
