I have a 1996 ARC AS that has developed a hairline crack at the seat tube, right below where the seat post is inserted. Does anyone know if Yeti will make this type of repair, or is there a frame repair shop that someone knows of who are qualified?

HI, Sorry to hear about your bike.
Yeti will not fix a bike like this under and normal conditons. A lot of ARCs have gone like this as age takes its toll, its a real shame as they are great bikes.
There is a place in the USA that can repair a Broken Alu frame, although I am not sure of the name of them.
Also, you could try looking up chris Herting at 3d racing, he was one of the Yeti guys at the time of the ARC. He could probably repair it for lots of money. But you;d need to ask him. I know it can be done.
In my opinion- (and as a ARC owner) the frame is just telling you it wants to retire! The next thing to go will be either the headtube will split open or the rear drop out will fall apart.
Good luck with the repair if you go ahead.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the response, I contacted Yeti they said it would be cheaper for me to purchase a new frame rather than do the repair. I found a welder in FL. who specializes in repairing aircraft alum parts, he told me he does these types of repairs on heat treated aluminum everyday, I going to give him a call tomnorrow, send him some photo's and see what he thinks.
