hey guys, building up a DH9 frame i bought, all done now except the brake and rear wheel.
i was informed by Colin at mtb direct that theres someone on here with a diagram explaining what brakes can be used and how to get them to fit? looking to run juicy 5's ideally, as i have one to use, but it seems like it may need modded.
any help would be great, cheers guys! Aidan.

Aiden,
It's an absolute sod to get a brake to fit the DH9. Unless you have a stash of different brand mounts it can take a while to figure out. Mine came with Hope M4'S which I did'nt like.
I found the best thing to do was take it in to the local shop and get the yeti loving mechanic to sort it out (cheers Royles of Wilmslow). There's no substitute fo trial and error.
I was running HFX 9's on a shimano 185mm mount turned backwards and the caliper shimmed out to the right position. I'm positive that Saint would fit the same way. For my current el camino's I've had to machine a little off the rear linkage, not ideal but it's the only way to allow the larger caliper to fit.
I can't say exactly how the juicy's would fit but I'm pretty sure you'll need to fit them on a different brand mount. Try the shimano mount from CRC they are brilliant with returns if it does'nt fit and are pretty cheap. I had the exact same problem with a mount for some dorados a while back which was even worse because no one stocks spares for them anymore.
I'd be interested in the diagram if anyone does have it. Your rear wheel needs either the razor rock hub or an axle made up to fit the larger none standard mounts. I'll try to post a pic of mine at some point.

BETD are sending me a draco hub on a 721 which i have been told will fit, ive also bought the yeti conversion.
as for the brake, i was told that a 6" I.S to post mount allows a 8" disc, but i think the bit for the bolts on the caliper is slightly too wide to drop down onto the mount right, might have to grind it lol.
a photo of your would be really helpful though. cheers fella.

Hello Guys I own an old YETI DH9 from the year 2001. On this Bike, i've mounted a HAYES MAG Rear Brake with the special Standard (the bolts for the interface between brake and frame are really close together). But this is a 7years old brake and I need to replace it. Has anyone of you an idee, if this special standard is available and how it calls?
Thanks for your answers
Henzen

Hi, This is the rear brake setup for my DH9 newly aquired of the bay. due to arrive tomoz, I have at the moment some xt calipers im gonna bang on for now. Does anybody know what i may need to cut the time scale down on the build. Also mine has the 20mm-12mm stepdown axle (Goldtec) I have been onto them and they tell me Hopes hubs go on aswell, does anyone have any experience with which fit? Cheers, Roy

Hope Pro 2 hub will fit but you will have to take the non drive side cap off the hub and then fit a extra bearing in its place
This set up should fit perfectly as i have used it twice now
Cant see any reason why it wouldn't fit with a hope bulb either

yetispa, Do you mean add a bearing in place of the axle spacer? And the 2nd bearing, should that be the same that is already in the pro2? Cheers, Roy
