Question: I have a minor amount of play in the rear end of my '06 ASR - I believe coming from the linkage at the shock end / dogbone pivot point. Bike running smooth otherwise Should i be looking at getting a bearing kit OR a shock hardware kit or to ask question another way, is it likely the bearings are worn or the steel pin ................. Answer anyone:

Hi
99 times out of 100 what you need is the shock eyelet bushing.
You will see the Steel pin has some wear on it, but it is made of hard stuff, so usually a good clean with Autosol or similar metal polish works wonders.
It is unusual if the bearings in the end of the dog bone have got the play, but you might find they need a bit of a clean (They are needle rollers on that one), and a good dose of grease!
Shock eyelet bushings are easy to get from Mojo, Chainreaction etc. Its a Fox part, so does not come in the rebuild kits.

With the '06 ASR I would seriously recommend using the "Yeti" bearing tool as it makes the job of spacing the bearings in the dog bone and the pin through the shock a hell of a lot easier. one of the best tools I ever bought.

Guys - Thanks a lot for replies, Andrew - without having stripped down my frame yet, i was of like mind i would have been surprised if it had been the pin (like you say its a pretty strong hunk of steel). I went to the yeti frame schematic looking for bushings - as this is where i would have first looked for play but couldn't see any - thanks for heads up, i'll try that first.
