Prior to my 575 on an old G Fish HT I experienced a decent crash, the kind with air, clip-less pedals, hard packed clay, broken helmet and bones. That's when I switched to platform pedals.
I have Crank Bros 5050X and ride w/ Five Ten shoes on the 575 now. They aren't bad, but I was wondering what platform pedals do you guys like? I ride in Fla on trails which sounds lame, but its still easy to get busted up!

I think you have the worst pedals on the market that may be why you have problems.
What you need are the Easton Flat Boys they are the preferred choice of every, and I mean every Downhill rider I know.
Nowt wrong with riding in Flats.

I have Atomlab Aircorp pedals on both of my bikes and really like em, plenty of grip!!!! They have a nice large platform, but a really thin profile and are super stiff, easily serviced too.

I'm running 5050X on my DJ with Five Ten shoes and they are OK until you leave the ground, at that point prepare to eject feet.
I'm running DMR V12 Mag's on my 575 with the same shoes and I stay on a lot better, having said that I don't the 575 in the same way as the DJ. Does that help or not, probably not.
But i will swap the 5050x for DMR's on the DJ, once I have some cash.

I was running V12's they are fine plenty grip and i find they are big enough to be confident that when you land your gona get some pedal at least, recently changed to wellgo Mg1's these are ~200g lighter and pretty much the same size. i would not go to wide since yi might start catching them in the turns.

Maybe you should try longer pins on your 50/50s...thats what sam hill uses...havnt tried them myself but I recommend the syncros mental magnesium pedals ...just put them on my 303...had easton cullys but the syncros have more grip and are lighter...(the cullys are the lighter version of the flatboys)

Thanks for the suggestions. I went with the Easton Flatboys. Rode the bike 3 times already with them and there is a marked improvemt in how htey grip and feel. I'd recommend them as well.

DMR V12s Cheap (compared to others) Easily rebuilt/maintained. grippy as hell with 5 tens.
I run them on all my bike DJ DH and 575
others that I've tried and didnt like were: Shimano DX - (pins were weak) Atomlab aircorp - (bushes rather that bearings) Funn Soljam - Pins sheared easily.
