I am looking to go to Glentress next weekend for the first time and was wondering if anyone could recommend a camp site that is close enough to the trails but also close enough to be walking distance from local pub/curry house.
Also planning to ride sat and Sunday with a trail each day, I have a 575 and have been looking at the V Trail for sat and the traquair xc for the Sunday. Is this a good combo or would you recommend anything else?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hiya,
Glentress, you are in for a treat!
You can't go wrong, whatever trail you do will be amazing.
Usually I do the hardest one on the first day, and the next hardest on day 2. You will find that you get back to the end and want to go and do something else aswell.
Ride for as long as the sun shines! There is so much to do there.

As for camp sites, Glentress is about 2 miles away from Peebles which is the closest town, its a bit far to walk. I have never camped, but there is one next to Glentress I am sure. Andrew

Thanks for your reply Andrew. I have been looking at the 7Stanes website and see that Kirroughtree has a similiar length black trail to Glentress. Any experiences? If so which in your opinion is best?

I found K-Tree harder, but well worth a visit. Its a long way from anywhere though.
If your going to go to one of them, its got to be Glentress, the set up there is just better.

Guys, can I also recommend Drumlanrig for some riding, and especially as it is much less crowded then Glentress and much more natural trail feel to it,I took my new ASR-C there 2 weeks ago on its maiden ride and having previously ridden there on a Santa Cruz Blur and a GT Zaskar carbon I can say the Yeti is the finest bike I have ever ridden off road.Cheers.
