Hi all, I'm new here, decided to join up when I became part of the tribe last week. Just finished building up my 08 575 frame that I bought second hand from one of the mtb forums. Anyways, thought my first post should be some pics of my new pride and joy, so here it is ;D Frame: 08 medium in turquoise Forks: Fox TALAS 36 RC2 (with Silk Graphics Fox / Yeti decals) Wheels: Hope Hoops (Pro 2's) Tyres: Schwalbe Nobby Nic's Cranks: Shimano SLX (9 speed) Shifters & Front Mech: Shimano XTR Rear Mech: Shimano XT Brakes: Hope Tech M4's Bars: FSA Carbon risers Stem: Hope FR 70mm Seatpost: Maverick Speedball dropper Saddle: Charge Spoon Grips: ODI Yeti Think that's all. I'd really appreciate any feedback and ideas about my bike as if there's anyone that know their Yeti's...its you guys! Any questions at all, let me know Cheers all Jamie

What travel do you ride at on the forks? Nice build. Hi Andrew, Thanks mate. I've only had one ride so far, but i kept chopping and changing between 160mm and 130mm to see what i preferred. 130mm seems more stable unless you're tearing along though so i'll probably be sticking with that most of the time. Cheers Jamie

Lovely build! Waaaaaay too clean though!! Just being picky but your front brake hose should run inside the fork leg, rather than outside where it could get dinked and cut. Same goes for the rear, should run inside the carbon seatstay on the rear triangle. You really don't wanna loose pressure mid descent and fly into a tree..... If I remember right, the Speedball is cable actuated? I'd replace the cable and outer with a longer white cable outer, making it all neat and purdy! Run it down from the lever, down the downtube with the rear brake hose, under the bottom bracket an up behind the seat tube. I've seen a little widget thingy that looks like a figure 8 washer that holds the cable to the seat clamp. Can't remember where though or who its made by? On the whole though, very very nice ride! Expect to see plenty of other riders turn green with envy when out on the trails!

Hi Bagpuss, Ha ha, yeah pretty clean just now, but i did clean everything before swapping bits between frames...and you've gotta have it looking nice for pics Got it very muddy the next day you'll be pleased to hear. That's exactly the sort of response i'm after mate! I'd never thought / noticed the brake cable routing before, but you're totally right, i'll be addressing that before the next ride. The Speedball is cable operated yes, and i think your suggestion for routing it is nice and neat sounding...not 100% on the white though ha ha. Was the guide something like this? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230787327397?var=530056617598&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648Oh and yeah, you must've read my mind re the bash, i'm already on the lookout ;D A black Hope one does seem like the best option base on the other black Hope bits i've already got. As an addition, i just managed to get myself a Charge Surface saddle. These are like rocking horse guano as they don't make them anymore, and were only a special edition. Basically a Charge Spoon (best saddle i've used so far) but with blue bits instead of red...hence me wanting to find one. Along with this came a pair of Charge grips with similarly blue bits, so they'll be going on soon...man i'm a tart! ha ha Thanks again for the kind words mate, you guys know your Yeti's, so makes spending the time and money feel a wee bit more worth it Jamie

I have had the same problem it looks like your having. Besides zip ties, is there a better way to secure the dropper tube cable? My friend ran his down through the bottom tube, but my cable isn't long enough.

Hey Jamie, no probs!
Ahh, the white cable was just to match what youve got already. Not to my taste either really, I'm a braided carbon or grey man myself! That cable guide on e-bay is exactly what I was on about too. By all accounts the cable on the speedball is a pregnant dog to get out of the lever. But once you've got it dialled its simple? Running in a longer outer and cable would tuck it out of the way nice and tidy.
All you need to do now is copter tape it to death and you're done! This probably the last bike you'll buy for a very very long time! Hope to see you at the tribe meet!!
Hey Hobie66c. I've got a Hobie C71 in my quiver of surfboards, Shaped by Terry Martin RIP. But I guess being from Colorado you're more a flat water Hobie??
Anyways, google "jagwire stick on cable clips" they're black anno alloy and look really sick once fitted to a black frame.
Cheers guys...The Bagpuss

Ah, with you now mate, the brakes have actually got carbon hoses, must be the lighting in the pics making them look a bit paler. Do you know off the top of your head if the dropper post cable is gear or brake?I'll defo have a play with the cable situation, hopefully it isn't too much of a b*ll ache!
The top tube is well taped up already, i'll be putting patches on as i go along too.
Those cable clips look good fella, will have to do a bit of research on them myself
Cheers Bagpuss

Ha Ha...I posted the last post and then looked a bit closer...ooooops
I reckon its all about the nipple on the end for the Speedball. I just had a quick read up and Maverick no longer own the Speedball design. Its now owned or known as the Crank Brothers Joplin L and the Joplin R. Hey presto!! It means its a gear cable. You can also upgrade the wiper seal with a Fox Float rear shock seal.
Also, buy a can of Brunox Deo Fork and Dropper lube. Its a specialist lube spray that keeps the seals and coating in tip top shape!

I've made a few updates so thought i'd put some new pics on here Shimano XTR rear mech with carbon cage goodness and Yumeya chain Hope bash and DMR Vault pedals Also added a pair of Maxxis LUST High Rollers 2.1...you may notice its missing the dropper now, to cut a long story story short it lasted one ride then failed that's the risk you take when buying second hand i suppose. Might get another at some point soon but the Easton will have to do for now. Oooh, and i've just realised it now also sports a better colour co-ordinated Charge Spoon As before, any thoughts / comments will be much appreciated Cheers all! Jamie
