oh well. nothing that cant be fixed. my ten speed bits have started to arrive. i now have a chain, cassette and rear mech. as soon as the rf levers arrive i can go ahead and start to build the bike again. oh, didnt i mention? its stripped for a clean. i am going to leave the tyres on and wheel bearings in tho, so its not a proper clean. ooh, ooh, and i got some new pedals too. these were a gift from a mate who i spanner for. he had a good result at a w/c a couple of weekends ago, and destroyed two of the wheels i had just built him. so these are a thankyou.

i know, i know. next time.... What that a Pro 2 Evo hub that ingested itself? yep. and only a few weeks old. i did mean to tie this up, hope were kind enough to replace the freehub body, and they exchanged it for a stainless one. its a tiny bit heavier but should prove super strong. while i was reassembling the bike all of the 10 sp parts i was waiting for finally arrived. i had the chain and cassette and as soon as the shadow+ rear mechs were available the lbs ordered in the shifter so i was set to go. the bike is up together now, and has done a couple of rides local and a longer ride in the f.o.d., and performed faultlessly. i had hoped that the 11-36 rear cassette would offer enough of a spread of gears but i do feel slightly shortchanged. at a trail centre its fine, but on some of the more techniacl local riding we do i could do with another gear or two for the nasty climbs. it could be fixed with a 22-32-44 cahinset, but i was trying to keep the whole build modern, and triple chainrings are so last year. oh, and shadow+? very, very good. pretty much eliminates chain slap, completely silences the bike in all but the nastiest environments. well worth the extra.

Well, i didn't update this thread properly did I.... I havent ridden much since the end of November, it got cold and I lost interest. Boxing day is the big annual ride locally, has been for a decade now, and the bike was great. I washed it that afternoon, which is rare nowadays as i usually leave it to fester a bit and wash it maybe every three rides or so. I must be really in love with it. This week I stripped it down, and gave everything a good clean. Having got my cotic back i don't have to get it back together quickly so I am able to take my time. All clean:- One thing that i have noticed is that the paint on the frame is particularly rubbish. It seems that every time I look i find new chips and areas where paint is flaking off. to start with it was noticeable on the carbon stays, as a chip would look worse than it was as it would lift the surrounding area and look twice as big as it was. But now it seems the black paint too is lifting in large pieces, mostly around the droupouts. I have touched the areas up with a halfrauds stick, and it looks fine. But i am a bit annoyed.

bike is back together now. i picked up some hope jockeys wheels from the lbs in the week, they look ace. they also had a revised xt shifter mount that they had ordered in for a customer and i think i will send mine back to hope to exchange them. its a subtle difference but so much more solid.

Hope have replaced my gear lever mount this week, they have revised the design slightly after i complained about them. It's a subtle difference but the fit is so much better.

First ride of the year on the yeti. As the weather was so good this week I pulled a sicky at work, and as the dropper post on the Foes is playing up, I pulled the big top off of the hook and hit the trails. Having been riding only 26ers for the last few months I had forgotten how different 29ers feel. I had forgotten how good they are. I'm in no rush to get the other bike fixed....

cheers andrew. just dug this thread up as i am looking to sell..
i think i am ready to part with the yeti, i find i prefer to ride the 26er, its the bike that always seems to get picked. anyone in the uk looking for a size large big-top frame, in very good condition as it has had a mixture of pampering and limited use?
