I am looking at getting a 575 and have come up with the following spec:
Fox Talas 32 RLC Shimano XTR Crankset SRAM X0 Rear Mech SRAM X0 Shifters (2 of) Shimano XTR Front Mech M971 SRAM PG990 Cassette SRAM PC991 Hollow Pin Chain Hope M4 Braided 203mm brakes (2 of) Hope Pro 2 FR Wheelset Front Hope Pro 2 FR Wheelset Rear Hope Rear Skewer Cinder 2.25" Folding Tyres (2 of) SDG Bel Air Ti Saddle Crank Bros Joplin Seatpost + Remote EA70 Monkeybar High Rise Thompson Elite x4 90mm Yeti Lock On Grips Chris King Headset
Looking at turquoise as want to keep with yeti tradition, although the black anodised looks great I am worried that after a few muddy thrashes it will look tired
Would appreciate any comments you experienced yetifans have to offer

Hi.
Not a bad spec. Personally i think an M4 on the rear isn't necessary or 203 rotors. Turquoise is great! But anodised has it's advantages. I've used XO rear mech & shifters, they're great.

Good spec, I agree about the brake size, but keep the rotor to 160 and it should not be over braked.
Painted V Anodised!
Anodising is only a very thin surface coating, and although hard does scratch.
I'd always go painted.
but thats personal choice, the black that Yeti use seems to be pretty hard wearing. If it is anodising, its got a thick looking texture to it.

I think 160 mm rear rotor would be plenty. For the front, 180mm is enough for most uses.
I have a feeling that larger rotors are more likely to have issues with vibration or even bending. So, unless you really need DH braking power...

I disagree. Having a larger rota is not a problem, you will just have to get used to the power the 203 will offer you in terms of braking. Once you get used to feathering the brake correctly it will rock - Plus it looks the nutts having 2 big 'uns.

I'm using XT servowave with 160 rear & 180 front and not had any trouble stopping. The Talas is a good fork, but think about some Vanilla's

Thanks for your comments guys, as im new to all this and this may seem a daft question but what are the consequences of over braking the bike?

Frame and fork manufacturers often specify max rotor sizes, for durability or clearance reasons. So, check what the manufacturers recommend first.
Other than that, "over-braking" means that you have more metal hanging on the bike than you really need.
Ah, the FAQ on Yeti's 575 page says "The 575 can accept a 160mm-185mm rotor."

575. I've got 180 front and a 160 rear. Never felt i needed anything bigger (we'll at least my wife say's she's happy). Pics from Spain/Switchbacks next will prove it.

SH*t, I've turned this into a swingers forum, I meant I'll upload shots of me riding a 575 with 180mm rotors in Spain's hardcore 'trails' without a care in the world and def not in compromising positions with or without my wife's consent regardless of my rotor size.

I wouldn't get a hollow pin chain, they snap way to easily. Something half the price would do a better job.

Great spec you've got there. I'm running 180 rotors front and back and it's more than enough braking power fo rteh type of riding the 575 is meant for. As for paint v ano I don't think you can make a bad colour choice as they 08 frames look hot in all colours IMO. I went for the orange as I had a black bike before.
Post pics when yours is built.
