I have a 17.5" Ultimate frame bought from Evolution Imports in Bromley around 1993 but I believe this was originally used by the UK race team. Was orange and grey when I bought it, re-sprayed powder coated white last year by Chas Roberts. Frame # looks like U164

Got two Ultimates; Can´t find a serial# on the school bus yellow one, but as I own the original receipt it´s a `89 from Malibu, CA. The other one, glossy black, has U357 stamped on the BB-shell. Is anybody able to name the year it´s been built on this info?
Friendly greetings IHateRain

Story goes that the bb shells were stamped and thrown in a bucket before assembly, so frame numbers mean very little. Old skool yeti story right there.
Frame no should be on the bb shell, but as you know paint is so thick might not be able to see it.

Have one (U844) I'm rebuilding to more original than when I got it. Seat post was stuck and took 2 months to get out using penetrating oil and no force. It is original white and has a Halson fork but I did track down a take off black Accu Trax but the steer tube is 7.5" long, I need 6" to 6.5" and do not want to cut the fork, holding out I find one that someone is willing to trade. Mostly M73X parts on the bike but have a nice Cooks crankset in black I'm thinking of stealing off a Kona it's on now. Where would the serial number put my frame year? I'm thinking 91-92. Mine is in California, SF area.

I have an 17.5" Ultimate I purchased from someone in Canada as a full bike in 2002. I stripped down to the bare frame to restore at some point. The bike is Yellow now and the SN is U1775. I would consider a trade for a 1990 FRO in 17.5" as that was my first Yeti.
