Hi guys, after some advice... I have recently noticed some pitting and a patch of wear of the coating on the rail of my yeti. I'm very careful to ensure the car is greased as advised etc. So is this just general wear and tear or an issue that needs addressing? There doesn't appear to be any play and it runs smooth but i feel this will worsen. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! Alastair

HI
I would drop Yeti an email as they know best.
My 303 is 21/2 years old, and I have nothing like that on either rail.

Noticed when I took the rails off my 303 DH they have something similar. If you run your nail down it you can't feel anything.
Bike rides fine etc.

whats the condition of the ball bearings in the box. that looks as though some may have rust or contamination or possibly a broken bearing.

Hi.. We are a few guys in Denmark that have the same problem.. My old `06 303 has been running strong for 4 seasons now and NO signs of wear to the rails.. But both our new `09 303R DH´s are showing extreme signs of wear!! We are very careful with our bikes, as we both work in a bikeshop. Maybe a stress problem on the rail from the car on this single pivot? I´ve dropped Yeti a mail a while back regarding this issue, with the reply that we´d have to take it through the Importer, so we are now.. Hoping for a swift decision as this will NOT be better with time.
Don´t get me wrong.. Love Yeti and with the 303R DH being my 5th Yeti ,I will still order the new 303 when it goes pubilc ;D ;D

Yeah I haven't heard from Yeti, I'll try Evolution I think.
Interesting that you've had the same thing Mike. I've been so careful to grease it before each use.

Keep it clean, keep it greased after every ride and don't leave it wet.
Should easily get 5 years out of it.

Well I do, my bike is very well maintained, greased and so on as you say... I mean it's like new, I almost don't use it since I have 2 little boys I have to look after at home (4 months and 4 years) so no much time for going out riding anymore, and when I go it's dry outside, it must have about between 12 and 14 days of use... I decided to dismount everything and it sounds to me that the rail techno is not the right solution for that purpose, the seals and the scrappers are not doing a great job so this gets contaminated too easily; it's a real pitty 'cause this bike is a killer... at this stage I don't know what to do, it looks like I am out of the warranty period (April '14), I had several discussions with THK but this is not standard at all (even the rail pitch), I sent Yeti some mails and pictures but didn't receive any feedback which also is a big disappointment considering the amount of money this bike costs. With no positive news I will have to sell the bike, no Yeti anymore in my life, I'll go for a SC-V10 or a Lapierre
