Production Asr5 Alloy frames have cable guides for a Droplin-type seatpost along the top tube - Andrew's is like mine as the initial sample frames do not have the guides. Stu

Yeah, I wondered where they were;) LOL
First proper ride Yesterday, and what a ride!!
Took it to some Welsh Mountains!
I'm not so good at bike tests, but here goes.....
Build- The bike built up real well, the internal cable routing on the stay is neat looking, and makes the bike look smooth, also stops it flapping about so it can't get caught in stuff, took me ages to get it through! The cable was a real tight fit. Looks like the cable outer I got was much thicker than regular stuff though. Its in there now and looking good:)
Weight- OK I have no scales, but the weight is so close to my ARC you would not believe it! The wheels that came with the bike are very light, but most of the other stuff is the same. (Thomson- XT- SDG - Carbon bars)
Climbing- wow! first climb of the day and out ride leader Scant was telling me to slow down and save something for later! The bike climbs so well, better than my 575 ever did, although I could get up anything on the 575 if I wanted too. we climbed up a very rocky trail, with big loose and angled rocks, the back end grips so well, not sure if its the tyres (Schwalbe) or the fact is has the bolt thu rear hub (DT 10mm Axle- with bolt on YETI Chips) but there was no slippage, the bike held its line super well. Where my 575 would want to fall 'off line', the 5 seems to hang on that little bit extra. We even did a massive road climb, and it was easy to climb on, as good as my ARC would have been!
Flat- Fast, its just fast, suspension works well with lock out in off position, the riding position suited me fine (6ft on a medium, max stem stackers), it accelerates like lighting between obstacles you cant his flat out. point to point, I think this is the fastest bike I have ridden. Looking forward to trying it on familiar trails.
Downhill- OK, Scant took me on some way steep stuff, steeper than I would usually ride, and I was thinking, oh my god! I'm just about to stack, but I did not. I think for the steep stuff we were doing, a better pair of tyres would be a good addition, but the bike can cope with almost DH levels of steep, although not at DH bike speeds obviously! on more calm but still rough slopes, the bike feels very controlled, like the damping is really working, better on small to mid bumps than my 575 was, on really big stuff, a skilled rider would probably be as fast on either bike, and a 575 packs 140mm forks, so the difference is probably there. I've been riding an ARC for about 6 weeks, so to get back on a full sus bike was amazing to say the least!
Overall-
This bike rules, if you ride with me, please don't buy one! cuz then I'll always have the advantage! Next weekend, Derbyshire and proper big rocks, will let you know how it goes..........

Wow, that is certainly a beautiful bike, i know what's going on my list to Santa this year. Hopefully i'll get enough for my AS-X (which i have for sale on this site - hint hint) to get one.
How do you think it would fare beefed up a bit with full Saint Spec? I'm doing a ride from London to Monaco in a few months, we'll be going through the Alps and want something like this that can do the distance as well as the fairly hardcore offroad (nothing crazy but i'd be a bit worried about breaking bits for the rest of the ride if they get knocked or i come off). I'm thinking similar spec but with Saint Cranks, Rear Mech and Discs and slightly more burly tyres.
