Thanks for your insights there Andrew. I guess as far as the drop out pivot issue is concerned, there possibly is more stuff happening than I can get my head around, but I am still very uncomfortable with carbon chainstays.....carbon fibre is a great material, I just don't think it is correct in that particular application, and would prefer the option, and more affordability. Maybe an all alloy version willl surface one day.

In reading the last few post here one bike comes to mind, the ASX. I've had one for two years now and it really is a do it all bike if that's what you want, it will pedal and do drops and I never ever worry about it letting me down. Haven't even considered switching from an ASX to the Seven or the 575, especially with any carbon parts. Carbon needs to stay with the road bikes in my opinion. Seems to me there is a hole here in the lineup. I'm not as up to date as allot of you guys on suspension linkages, but for now the way I see it the 303R-DH would be the closest replacement for an ASX and a true all-a-rounder.
I switch between a hardtail and a ASX for my xc/all mountain riding depending on how I feel on a given day. As for my body I feel a difference in that I'm beat up on the hardtail but gained some skill on picking lines whereas the same ride on the ASX was more fun where I could jump off stuff that I normally wouldn't and not pay much attention to lines and believe it or not the climbs were not an issue between the two bikes(hardtail weighs 26lbs and ASX is 37lbs), can't explain why this is on the climbs. For me a do it all bike is the market to cater to and the ASX does it perfectly. In my riding the hardtail is just a learning tool to get better on the full suspension bike. In my opinion Yeti already has the best specific bikes for the intended uses, but would like for them to focus on a true all-a-rounder like the ASX is. Maybe the 303RDH is it, don't know haven't rode one yet. I would have hated to been the Yeti engineer that was given the task to design and replace the ASX!

Straight up, the 303RDH is the only replacement for the ASX.

not ridden a 303 RDH yet, but I would say thats a far more downhill type of bike than an AS-X.
My personal take on this, if you ride an AS-X, and by ride I mean try doing 15/20 mile loops on one, with 2 rings and a single crown fork, maybe go to the Alps once or twice a year, then the Seven is the new bike for you. It will be far better for this than the AS-X.
If you do uplift days, and ride with triple clamp forks, maybe race downhill, then the 303 RDH is the bike for you.
As for drops and wooden planks, I've no idea. Maybe a 2nd hand AS-X?

for wooden planks and drops - what about an 8?

What's a 8? I know of a bike called Driver 8, but it's not a Yeti.
I weekly do a 17 mile loop on a local trail that can be rode with a hardtail and the ASX, using these two bikes makes the ride seem like two different trails. There is a long 2.5 mile steady climb which is quiet steep and rocky with other rooty shorter climbs mixed in, some rocky fast downhill then the rest is rocky, rooted fast single track. The ASX excels on this trail and I'm comfortable taking it to a free ride park also with wooden structures and drops. Planning a trip to another state next summer to a lift assisted DH park, again the ASX will be my ride. Just my thoughts and experiences.
Maybe I should start a new thread as to not get this one off topic? (What Yeti bike would you replace your ASX with?)

I had 2 AS-X's, and if I needed a bike like that again, I would get a Seven having ridden on for a bit.
No question about it.
They are far more capable than the pics make them look.

The Seven isnt an option as an AS-X replacement, the seven is a big 575, thats it, nothing more. The AS-X can cope with downhill, freestyle, dirt jumps, and everything in between, its not light and its not an all day bike IMO, but I know a lot of people who do use them as their all day bike and are faster than me up hill as well as down.
Personally Im not sure about the 7, cant see it being much good as a day to day bike in the UK. I am hoping to line up a test v the foes fxr.to set my mind at rest.

I ride an ASX, i have other bikes too,but the ASX is the bike i turn to most of the time, i ride it on local 25 mile xc loops, trail centres, uplift days, local jump spot(badly) ;D, i've done epic allday rides in the lakes and i even did the coast to coast on it(stupid) . I go to the Alps for two weeks a year, drop the seat put some big tyres on and it rocks. The weight doesn't bother me(35lbs ish),it's getting a bit knackered now and i'm itching to buy a new frame but i'm going to have to look elsewhere because the 7 won't be able to do all the types of riding that my ASX can. If it was available with a coil shock i might try a test ride but it isn't so i won't! I love owning a Yeti,i've wanted one for years, but there just isn't one in the line up for me! Anyway i'm off to Stainburn now to ride my bike .

Site's been updated and the bikes part's been revamped quite nicely!
But no 303DH and no 4X?

I wonder if the 303 as seen on Litter a while back will replace the 303 DH. I guess the 303 DH is no more.
Also, the 4X. Most people use the DJ for 4X with good effect, World Champion !! and World Cup overall, and Anita got 2nd at the finals and 4th at the world champs on hers, so I guess the 4x is a redundant bike really?

It's not so much a 4X bike as a do anything bike, I love mine! It's raced dh, 4x and done dj's and xc rides without ever feeling out of place. Never found a bike that rides better on pretty much any terrain! I'm totally gutted if it's not going to be made again!
