Is it just me or is anyone else a bit disappointed with the feature? I was expecting it to be a bit longer word wise and maybe at least a group photo. I'm not dissing the quality, just the quantity. Perhaps a more XC oriented mag for the next tribe meet feature? Perhaps I'm wrong, discuss!

I thought the Dirt feature perfectly summed up what the Tribemeet was all about. There was little need to babble on with the intracacies of the weekend!
If you had any idea how hard it is to get a mag to take up an idea and run with it, maybe you would appreciate what Dirt have done in dedicating eight pages to what is effectively a free advert for Yeti bikes.
It is not a case of pick and choose what mag you want to cover your event - it is the mag who chooses what to do and when.
No other publication showed any interest in giving extensive coverage to the meet. It is very easy for it to come across as geeky and niche, which of course it is. Why would anyone else (other than the people there) be interested in reading an article in which the only common interest is that everyone rides the same brand of bike?
For a more general article on Yeti, around three years ago What Mountain Bike (or maybe MBUK) visited the factory for a tour. This was as part of a series and is maybe more the sort of thing you are after?

I am well pleased with the article, I know that MBUK, MBR were not interested to the point of not even returning emails.
What MTB did a 2/3rds page spread that summed up the weekend, and I think the DIRT article took it from a totally different angle, what makes up the tribe, rather than look what happened. It would have been easy to duplicate the weekends events.
Overall I think 8 pages is a mega result! and they ran a story on their website which was good.

I have only glanced it in Border's...it is quite a result to get so many large pics of rider's with their bikes into a magazine on such a small cult, as Luke points out...He is an exceptional photographer so all the better as the riders featured now have gallery quality images of themselves...it would be great to ask him back next year and take photos that we pay for...i'd pay £100 for a photo of that quality, but am sure he'd want more unfortunately, but a possilbe idea? it would be great to get a couple with my yeti riding mates, too...
was there one of you though Andrew?i couldn't spot you, which i think is a shame if i'm right...i didn't maange to read the article but will at some stage...
hey, how do i get a pic next to my name on this new fangled forum then?

Hello, 1st post. Had to make a comment! I agree with Luke and Andrew, thought the article was great, summed up what its all about, different people, all shapes and sizes etc. Its amazing that a mag like Dirt, which isn't by any means a XC mag, covered it at all. So unless we all start hucking its unlikely we'll get any more than that! I was especially pleased that there is a picture of my Dad (last pic, in his unmistakeable own style of shirt, wooley jumper and elastic bands around the ankles), which i will cherish for ever!! Of course i'm also pleased that i'm in it Been trying to call my brother all week to gloat! I got in touch with Victor Lucas and he kindly agreed to send some of the other pics he took, specifically the ones of us riding in a line, and doing jumps! Perhaps put them up on here. He told me he had hoped some of the others would make it into the artivle, but its not his call. Maybe you could get in touch Andrew and ask for all of them? PS Hope you are taking us somewhere new next year Andrew Cheers Olly

I will email Victor, see if he will let a few pics out, you even shed blood for that guy!
I was not in the pics, no, but don't worry, I am in What MTB in december, so go laugh at my riding! (Jan issue)
next year, Its new, the tribemeet has never been there, and if all goes to plan, it will be a great weekend for the XC boys, and DHers alike. Unsure how we can beat the free stuff from this year, but will have a go!
And Luke was maybe the first Lycra ever in dirtmag not in a race?

Yes, I lost my bet with Victor.
I hear he is being fired as we speak.

Hi. I agree with what has been posted, like I said in my previous post, I wasn't saying the quality wasn't there, I was just expecting it to have more word content. I appreciate that they are excellent photos and that it is a great advert for Yeti. I was unaware that What MTB had run a feature on it too and with a different angle. Is it in the Jan issue then? I'll keep my mouth shut and tail between my legs from now on!

HI Foz,
No need to keep your mouth shut! Its always good to hear peoples views, and in some cases, like above, maybe its important that everybody knows how good Dirt was to spend such space on a feature, If you had not bought up the thread, then maybe other people would have thought we had not tried to get other mags to cover it aswell.
Its the October 2007 issue of What MTB.

Hey Andrew, do you think that Dirt would be interested in helping us promote the yetifan.com DH day at Cwm Carn if it happens?
Good article I thought. Dirt always try and pull out the slightly left of centre view on things which is all good in my opinion. That's what makes it stand out from the other mags.

Good call Andrew, I guess that's why it's called a forum! I will have to try and get the back issue of WMTB, is it a big article?
Cheers

hey Foz
It was half a page (if that), around 200 words. That's all they wanted. Kinda puts into perspective the eight pages that Dirt gave the 'event'

HI all.
FOZ, its just 2/3rds of a Page, nice write up though.
The Cwmcarn DH day, we will still go there, but the Tribemeet might have a little DH & Freeride & 4X flavour aswell as the usual XC adventures, so the DH day will happen, but it will be better if we can tie it in with the Tribemeet. (June 15th)
We have some big plans, but it depends if we can pull them all off!
