I have owned my first YETI for a few months and am thrilled! Frame #R531.
A bike shop in Ft Collins, CO, tried to help me out with information on my bike. I did get an indirect email from Seth Mukai, Yeti Domestic Sales & Warranty, who said, "Road Projects are super rare and we haven’t done a lot of production on them in recent years (think past 6 years…it’s only been in house production for staff). "
So, if you own an older one, join the 'Super Rare' club!
I'll welcome any responses that would help me identify when my bike was made. It's a 56cm and tricked out with a lot of Dura Ace and a superb wheel set.

I have a serial number of R291; does anyone have any clues about where that would fit into the production history?

Yeti frame numbers don't tend to make sense.

so serial numbers are not serial; they don't increase by '1' with each frame produced?

Not on all frames no! Seems Durango factory was a crazy place.

as for R291, it has downtube shifter mounts and the rear triangle measures a hair over 127, so I'd guess it was made as late as the early nineties as a 126. It would be fun to know for sure..are the lower numbers out there the same, who has shift cable bosses on the down tube that are different and what number is it. There has to be a pattern if we gather up what we know.

I have a serial number of R291; does anyone have any clues about where that would fit into the production history? New to the forum here. I have a road bike with the serial number of R-310 that I know nothing about. I'm still trying to find out anything I can. Have you found much info? Joel, Outside of Durango. Cheers!

Hi! New to the forum. Just bought a 1999 Road Project Ultegra a couple of weeks ago. Guy said that it was one of the last ones out of Durango and ordered it through a friend in the company.
The serial number on the bike is R 537. The bike is all original except for the stem. The bikes size is an unknown. Is there any info available on the bike?
CHEERS!
